I was recently challenged by some young man bloggers to create a budget-friendly Easter craft, and of course, I jumped on board – I dear challenges like this!

I headed to the dollar store last calendar week to peruse the Easter alley, hoping to discover an detail or two that would inspire a projection. The instructions were to employ items from the dollar shop to complete an Easter craft that costs less than $x to make. After walking upwardly and downwards the aisle for quite some time, I gravitated toward the Easter candy (darn that sweet tooth!).

I ended upwards walking out with a couple numberless of jelly beans and a vision for a super thrifty candy gift jar. Hey, jelly beans count as dollar shop Easter items, correct? At $2 a bag for the Starburst brand, I figured they fit within the rules. They were in the Easter department, later on all.

What a cute gift idea! A cheap candy jar filled with jelly beans. So sweet. Make sure to download the 4 free jar labels!

Make This Easy DIY Processed Jar

My project was super simple and quick to assemble, all the same I really think information technology would be a perfect little candy jar souvenir to requite to a friend or grandma for Easter, don't you think? I likewise designed another labels that would make this souvenir work for other occasions, maybe Mother's Day?

I upcycled a large salsa jar for this project. I may or may non have a jar hoarding problem, so this was a good excuse to use one from my stash (shhhh, don't tell my husband our peak cupboards are filled with empty containers I can't carry to go rid of). You can obviously apply any kind of jar you have around the house.

What a fun way to upcycle an old jar into a cute candy gift! one | Spray Pigment The Lid

My kickoff pace was to give the jar lid a quick coat of spray paint. I had a pretty aqua on hand that I've been itching to employ on everything lately, and then I decided information technology was a great leap colour for my projection. I accept a big paper-thin box in our basement that I utilize to spray pigment pocket-sized things in.

2 | Add A Cute Give-and-take On Top

While the lid was drying, I whipped upwards a piddling vinyl label for the chapeau. I concluded up going with the word 'yum' and used my Silhouette (that's an chapter link) to cut the word out of a circle. If y'all accept a cutting machine, cutting out words is easy to do. If non, have no fear! Yous can easily skip this footstep or pick up a pack of letter stickers from the store and utilise them to spell out something fun.

Once the paint on my jar chapeau was completely dry out, I stuck my sticker on top. Isn't it adorable? My paint missed some of the edges of the lid and I was feeling too lazy to practise another coat, so I lined the border with a thin black and white washi record instead.

OMG what a cute aqua jar lid! Love this upcycled candy gift jar idea.

3 | Fill With Colorful Candy

This probably goes without proverb, but now'due south a skillful fourth dimension to fill your jar with jelly beans (these are my favorite kind). Feel gratis to taste test them while you wait for the lid's paint to dry out 😉

4 | Attach A Printable Gift Tag

Your final step is to attach a pretty label. I designed this cute Easter label and printed information technology out on regular printer newspaper. I stuck it to the jar by using a glue dot in each corner. I also had some cute sparkly string from the dollar aisle, and then I used a little of that to embellish things a bit.
